Ija Adler was a prominent Chicago bookman who, for many years, headed the rare book department of Marshall Fields Department Store. Adler had a large personal collection of books and manuscripts, much of which was acquired by Washington University in 1969. The manuscript collection includes Adler's professional papers as well as an extensive group of historical and literary autographs. Listed below is the modern literature material from the Adler Papers, a large portion of which is from the files of the literary magazine, Rhythmus , which Oscar Williams and his wife, the poet Gene Derwood, operated briefly in the mid-1920's.
