Film and Media Archive Undergraduate Essay Contest

In 1968, Washington University alumnus Henry Hampton founded a major black-owned film production company called Blackside, which produced the respected Eyes on the Prize documentary series that chronicled the Civil Rights Movement. Washington University Library's Film and Media Archive houses Blackside's records, which contain valuable research materials and footage used in the creation of Eyes on the Prize, as well as many other Blackside documentaries. The Film and Media Archive also includes several other important film and media collections. The Archive is a treasure trove of twentieth-century American and African American history and culture.

In honor of Henry Hampton, the Film and Media Archive and the African and African American Studies Program, would like to announce the Henry Hampton Undergraduate Essay Contest for Washington University students.
