Study Group for
Academy of Certified Archivists Exam
Schedule for 2008

Summary

Outlined below is a sequence of readings broken into the Academy of Certified Archivists Domains.

The group will meet approximately every three weeks to discuss background information and the seven domains.

Each meeting will include:
1) A discussion of the texts aimed at developing understanding in staff on the subject area.

2) A discussion of the texts as they relate to archival practice in the participants own work.

3) A discussion of possible ACA exam questions related to the weeks topic.

4) Depending upon availability, meetings may include guest speakers who address the central topic.

5) A presentation of an article summary from the domain along with a bibliography of current journal literature in the area (ideally with classic articles highlighted). See journal list below.

The participants will assign specific readings to people. Each person will prepare questions and answers with page numbers. The questions will be e-mailed to the other members before the meeting discussion. This process will help the participants get more involved in the readings. The questions and answers will spark discussion and help us review for the exam.

The * in front of the readings below indicate publications that the ACA Handbook notes are frequently reflected on the exam. The other readings relate to the Domain topic and can help further explain the topic.
