- Physics Library Summer Hours begin Tuesday, May 19, 2009.
Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
Closed Saturdays and Sundays.
Closed holidays - Monday, May 25 and Friday, July 3.
Closing at 2:00pm on Staff Day, Monday, May 18. - Library Inventory - The annual inventory of Physics
Library material will be May 7-13, 2008. The Library will be
closed to everyone during this time. It is important that
all books be returned to the Library on or before 4:00 pm, May 6,
2009. If the inventory is completed ahead of schedule, the
Library will reopen early. Everyone's cooperation will expedite
the inventory.
- iTeach - The spring 2009 edition of Teaching and Technology, the ITeach
newsletter, is now available online at
http://iteach.wustl.edu/newsletters/sp09/.
- ISI (creaters of Web of Science) has introduced ResearcherID, a global, multi-disciplinary
scholarly research community where authors can sign up for a unique identifier. This is a
completely free service and is open for anyone to search and view profiles of those
researchers who have chosen to participate and make their information public. In addition,
anyone can register for a Researcher ID where they can create a custom profile, build
their online publication list, generate citation metrics from Web of Science and more.
See http://researcherid.com
- Harvard and APS Reach Agreement on Journal Publications - The Harvard Office
for Scholarly Communication and the American Physical Society (APS) announced that they
have entered into an agreement to facilitate faculty compliance with the University’s
open access policies when Harvard faculty members publish in the APS journals. As a
result of the new agreement, APS recognizes Harvard's open access license and will
not require copyright agreement addenda or waivers, in exchange for Harvard's clarification
of its intended use of the license. The main beneficiaries of the Harvard-APS agreement
will be physics faculty members, who are no longer obliged to acquire waivers of Harvard’s
prior license. In addition, other institutions and their authors may find the agreement
to be a useful model in their interactions with APS and other scholarly publishers.
