  • Spring Recess Hours
    March 9-13, 2009
    Monday-Friday
    7:30am-4:00pm

  • Collection Budget - Books - The profile we have set up to automatically receive books will be changed in March. New books will automatically be sent only if they cost between $40 and $140. Our preference may also be changed to primarily receive paperback books. This will lower our overall costs, but hopefully continue to provide us with a good collection of books. I will continue to have a firm order budget to purchase books which do not come automatically as part of the profile. Be sure to let me know if there are any books that you would like me to order so I can make sure that the books you need will be available to you.

  • Collection Budget - Databases - The two major commercial databases used in Physics are Web of Science and INSPEC. Web of Science had over 180,000 hits on it and INSPEC had nearly 14,000 hits on it last year. I believe that we will be able to continue having access to both of these databases.

  • Collection Budget - Journals - Due to current budget cuts in the Physics Library's collection budget, we will need to change some journals from print + electronic to electronic only and cancel other titles completely. Dropping the print copies of journals received electronically is the easiest and least painful since we will still have access to the journal. Also, we will no longer be binding anything received electronically to save additional costs. I will be updating the following lists as I get more information. I will let you know when all the lists are complete so I can get your input for journal cancellations.

  • Student Book Collecting Essay Competition - The 2009 Neureuther Student Book Collecting Essay Competition is now accepting entries for graduate and undergraduate prizes. The deadline for submissions is March 27, 2009. More info.
