- Physics Library Book Budget - I still have money left in the FY2010 budget
for purchasing books. The last day to purchase books on this fiscal year's budget
is May 7. If there are any books which you would like me to purchase for the
Physics Library, please let me know as soon as possible.
- WU Electronic Theses and Dissertations, August 2009+, are available
online at http://digital.wustl.edu/etd/. I believe
there will be records in our online catalog eventually, but that part of the process is not yet
complete. Remember, most WU PhD dissertations 1996+ continue to be available fulltext online in
the Dissertations
& Theses @ Washington University in St. Louis database.
- Ebook Pilot in the Catalog - During the months of March and April, 2010, when you use
either of the Library Catalogs you may notice many more electronic, or ebook, titles than before.
Over 70,000 ebooks are being made available to the WU community as part of a pilot project at the
Libraries. The pilot is a way for the Libraries to gauge interest in ebooks. The titles in the
pilot are not actually purchased by the Libraries until you click on and read the ebook. If you
choose an ebook title that is part of the project, you will be prompted to enter your WUSTLKey
before you continue on to access the ebook content. Another way to identify these is that the link
in the catalog will say "Click here to view book" instead of "WUSTL fulltext." We are not actually
spending money when you enter your WUSTLKey. You may look at the tables of contents, browse and
actually do some reading before we need to pay for the book. Please use any of these ebooks as you
wish during the trial. We're interested in hearing what you think of our new program! If you have
any questions or comments, feel free to email Alison
Verbeck or call 314-935-6215.
- Firefox search plugin for the WUSTL Campus Directory - Go to
http://dbrews.com/search.html and follow the directions.
It adds a WU directory pulldown to your Mozilla Firefox toolbar in the area where most Firefox users
already have a Google search box, etc. This was created by a WU engineering student. It doesn't have
anything to do with the library but I do like to make your work more efficient when I can and this
is a very useful tool I think. Enjoy!
- Recently published papers in Physics - The following papers were recently
indexed and published by members of the Physics Department:
