Food = no & Beverages = OK with care: For reasons of building maintenance and the protection of library materials, food is NOT permitted in the Library. Beverages in covered containers or cans may be consumed in the Library. Please be especially careful when working near computers.

Group Study: Space is available downstairs the Natural Sciences Learning Center. You may also use Life Science 202 and 202A when they are not being used for classes.

Noise: Noise should be kept to a minimum. For quiet study, work away from the traffic and conversation in the corridor and near the Service Desk. Please turn ringers off cell phones and pagers when you are in the library.

Smoking: Smoking is NOT permitted.

Pets: Animals, with the exception of assistance or guide dogs, are not allowed.

Identification Cards: Staff may request valid identification, for circulation and to assure legitimate use of the library.

Computer / Printer Use: When you are using workstations and printer for email or other purposes which are not related to library resources or the university curriculum, please limit your use to 10 minutes, especially when others are waiting.

Personal Property: We suggest you do not leave personal property unattended.

Non-Washington University Visitors: You may use library materials in the library. An ID may be required for use of reserve materials. Large groups are strongly discouraged because of limited space. Ask at the desk about options, such as Interlibrary Loan, InfoPass or various Courtesy Cards, if you wish to borrow materials. See also Services for Visitors to Washington University Libraries

Telephone Use: When possible, use nearby phones in Olin Library, Mallinckrodt Center, Rebstock Hall (1st floor) or Life Sciences 202A. You may request Staff phones for short, local calls.

After Hours Use: After-hours access may be requested by Biology researchers and graduate students. After hours circulation forms are available at the Service Desk. Journals and Reserve Materials should NOT be taken from the Library after hours.
