Digital Bulletin Board Submission Guidelines

Please read all six sections below. Once you have made sure your poster meets the following requirements, email the file to dbb@wumail.wustl.edu

 

Image Format Image Use Rights
You may use whatever application that you feel most comfortable with to create your image file. However, only files that meet the following criteria will be accepted:
  • Saved in .png, .gif, or .jpg format
  • Dimensions of 1280x768 pixels
  • Resolution of 72 dpi

It is your responsibility to ensure that any images used in the display design are either copyright free or you have obtained written permission to use the image.
Submission Deadline Prohibited Content

All submissions are due at midnight Wednesday for display the next week, starting on Monday.

Postings may not make any reference to alcoholic beverages or illicit drugs.  Sexist and discriminatory postings and postings containing offensive language are not allowed.

Any student/student group that would like to post on the Digital Bulletin Board must be sponsored by a Student Union Student Group.

All submissions, in addition to following the format guidelines described below, must also follow any guidelines put forth by the Student Union Posting Policy found at:  http://www.getinvolved.wustl.edu/policies/pdf/PostingPolicy.pdf

Acceptable content includes event advertising, student group position announcements, and informational or educational postings.

Any Washington University Department/Unit/Program that would like to post on the Digital Bulletin Board must have their WU Department/Unit/Program logo and contact information clearly visible on the posting.

All submissions display for one week unless otherwise specified. Submissions are displayed during the following hours:  11:00am-1:00pm; 4:00pm-6:00pm; 9:00pm-11:00pm.

Powerpoint 2007 Instructions

  • Create a new Powerpoint 2007 File. (1) Click on the Design tab in the ribbon, (2) Click on Page Setup, (3) Size the slides for On-screen Show (16:9). Click OK.



  • Use Powerpoint to create your slide(s). When you have finished creating your slides, Click on the Office Button in the upper-left hand corner of the screen. (1) Click on Save As and (2) Other Formats from the resulting list.



  • The Save As dialog box will open. (1) Select PNG Portable Network Graphics Format from the (2) Save drop down list. Click on Save.



  • If you have multiple slides, you will be prompted to choose all slides for export or the current slide. Select the option that is appropriate: Every Slide if you have multiple slides to submit and Current Slide Only if you have one slide to submit.



  • Email your image or images to dbb@wumail.wustl.edu.

Photoshop CS3 Instructions

  • Choose File -> New to create a new image in Photoshop. (1) Name your file and set the (2) Width to 1280 pixels, (3) Height to 720 pixels, (4) Resolution to 72 pixels/inch, and (5) click OK.



  • Once you have created your image, you need to save it as a .png. Select (1) File and (2) Save for Web & Devices...



  • In the Save for Web & Devices dialog box, select (1) PNG-24 from the image format drop-down list, (2) uncheck the box next to Transparency, and (3) click Save. Choose a location to save your file and give it a name.



  • Email your image or images to dbb@wumail.wustl.edu.
