Graphics Capture and Editing

The Arc provides support for high speed and high resolution digitization of images coming from various formats (e.g., slide, text, photo, etc.).

The large-format, high resolution scanner is a Microtek Scanmaker 9800XL, capable of scanning 12"x17" at 1600dpi optical resolution. For more information, see Microtek's website. It is attached to computer number Arc 622.

The high speed scanner is a Fujitsu ScanPartner 15c capable of scanning 8.5"x11" at up to 15 pages per minute with grayscale output of up to 600dpi. The Fujitsu scanner also features a document feeder which allows it to supported automated scanning. For more information, see Fujitsu's website. Automatically collated duplex scanning is supported by Acrobat, but requires two scanning passes. Optical character recognition software (OmniPage Pro) is available. This scanner is attached to computer number Arc 621.

If you need help using these scanners, you may request a brief training session. This training is available on demand, time allowing, and you can request this training from the person working at the Arc's front desk.
