Other Database Searching Options for the Life Sciences

Mediated Searching Sometimes folks have trouble finding what they need and would like to have a librarian do their search. Although we offer excellent resources through the library homepage, there are still many databases which we do not have available on a free, search-it-yourself basis. The two most commonly requested searches are Zoological Record Online and BIOSIS Previews Online.Contact the Biology Librarian [email (remove spaces): rlewis @ wustl.edu or phone 935-4819] for a mediated searching appointment. These generally take 30-45 minutes; usually best results are obtained by the requestor and librarian working together.
Some of these searches are quite expensive. The library subsidizes a certain amount, but there may be a charge for extensive searching. We will discuss costs and options before we search beyond the library subsidy.
