"2. A research institute or other organization providing advice and ideas on national or commercial problems;
an interdisciplinary group of specialist consultants. Also in extended (usu. facetious) use. "

Domestic spending analyses. Excellent sources for Social Work papers.
CIAO: Columbia International Affairs Online

schedules of events, policy brief texts, economic statistics, and useful links.
Heartland Institute
Based in Chicago. Considers state and local public policy issues. Opposes
"big government" solutions. Promotes local decision-making for most
issues.
Heritage Foundation
Washington-based conservative think-tank.
Hoover Institution
'The Hoover Institution on War, Revolution and Peace, Stanford University, is a
public policy research center devoted to advanced study of politics, economics,
and political economy,both domestic and foreign, as well as international

Institute for Policy Research

McKinsey Global Institute
