ACLU -- the American Civil Liberties Union
Outspoken, but quirky, defender of civil rights for everyone, especially fringe groups others would preferred censored.

AEI--American Enterprise Institute
Big-Business conservative point of view.

ADA -- Americans for Democratic Action
Liberal activist. Promotes national legislation to expand civil liberties and to curtail rising defense spending.

AFL-CIO
Organized Labor. Usually liberal on domestic issues and conservative on foreign issues.

National Rifle Association
The quintessential lobby group, committed to defending the Second Amendment.

American Association of Retired Persons (AARP)
With the graying of the Boomers, this group is becoming increasingly influential.
