What's new at Olin

Full access to BDSL-Online started in April 2006: http://www.bdsl-online.de
As previously announced, WU Libraries now have full access to the online version of the Bibliographie der Deutschen Sprach- und Literaturwissenschaft (BDSL), a major bibliography for German language and literature. Coverage is from 1985-present. For coverage prior to 1985, see the print version in Olin Reference.

Tips for using BDSL (Online)

  • Umlauts matter. "Boll" won't work, you need to enter "Böll" or "Boell". "ss" and ß work for an "esszet".
  • English terms won't result in many hits. Only use English in title searches to find German equivalents.
  • Use the subject keywords ("Schlagwörter") to refine your searches.
  • Click on "Text" to display selected entries. You can print or save your selected "Auswahlsliste". To e-mail, copy and paste your selected list into an e-mail message.
  • Full-text available via Get It!

MLA coverage now 1926-present
Retrospective coverage from 1926-1962 for the MLA International Bibliography is now available in First Search. Complete coverage for MLA is 1926-present. More info.

Libraries' hours and research help during the summer
Although classes are over, the Libraries are still open. Librarians and other library staff are available for research assistance and questions over the summer. WU Libraries Summer hours. For research help, contact Brian by e-mail or phone (935-4824).

Off the Shelf
A new publication of Washington University Libraries, published twice yearly for our faculty, students, and friends. In it, you'll find the latest news on the Libraries' collections, services, donors, and more.

  • Umlauts matter in searches (e.g. for Böll, use "böll" or "boell")
  • "Esszet" (ß) should be changed to "ss" (e.g. for weiß, use "weiss")
  • Limit your search to a paricular set by selecting from the "Source List"
