For Washington
University faculty, staff and students:
First check the Washington University
Online Catalog to verify whether a standard is held by the WU
Libraries. A keyword search is best. |
If the standard is not held by the WU Libraries, you
may:
- Go to Specs & Standards:
Specs & Standards is a comprehensive index of standards from more
than 450 standards organizations. The service is automatically
updated, so you are always retrieving the most current version of
a standard.

If not available at WU Libraries, you may:
- Check the St. Louis
Public Library catalog for U.S. industry standards.
- If the standard is not U.S. or St. Louis Public Library does
not hold it, check the Linda Hall Library in
Kansas City, MO. You can e-mail them at requests@lhl.lib.mo.us
or call 1-800-662-1545
- If copyright restrictions prevent the Linda Hall Library from
fulfilling the request, options are:
- Purchasing directly from standard issuing body.

- Purchasing from Global Engineering Documents, Clayton,

- Purchase directly from Tech Data
Xpress:
Tech Data Xpress is a comprehensive index of standards from more
than 450 standards organizations. The service is automatically
updated, so you are always retrieving the most current version of
a standard.
- In order to use the database, you will need to create a
username and password. Click on the New User Signup link and fill
out the form.
- Access is to bibliographic information about standards
- not the full text of the standards. In order to get the
full-text of a standard you must purchase the standard using a
credit card.
- On the profile you create, above (your username &
password) you can include credit card information to pay for the
standards you wish to order. Prices are given for each standard
in the database.
