EndNote Import Filters

EndNote Info | Import Filters | Connection Files | FAQ | EndNote Product Site

In order to successfully transfer citation information from a bibliographic database to the proper EndNote field (e.g., article title), you need to capture the data correctly from the bibliographic database and use the proper EndNote filter. The EndNote program provides a number of preconfigured filters that are installed in the Filters folder when you install EndNote on your hard drive.

Importing Citations into EndNote

  1. Open an EndNote library or create a new one to store the records
  2. Under the File menu, select Import
  3. Choose the downloaded data file for the "Import Data File" box
  4. For "Import Option" select the proper import filter. If the filter is not included in the initially displayed menu items, select "Other filters" and choose the filter from EndNote's "Filters" folder.

Import Filters

Additional import filters, and perhaps updated versions from those installed with your copy of EndNote, are available from the EndNote Filters page.
