EndNote Information

EndNote is a commercially available software program, available for Windows and Mac, used to manage bibliographic citations. You can use it to search bibliographic databases and import citations, using either connection files or import filters.

EndNote makes available a connection file for the WU Library Catalog. This file allows EndNote users to connect directly to the catalog, search it, and import records directly into an EndNote Library.

Information about Endnote is provided as a convenience to our users. Contact the Electronic Resources Librarian if you need help using EndNote with catalogs and databases provided by the WU Libraries. Technical support for using EndNote is NOT provided by the Libraries. If you need technical assistance using the EndNote program, please contact EndNote.

The WU Libraries provide minimal support for EndNote. We are making this information available as a service to the members of the Washington University community who are using EndNote to manage their bibliographic citations.

If you do not wish to purchase a copy of EndNote, the Libraries have subscribed to RefWorks, a completely web-based citation manager which is free to you to use. RefWorks has implemented an Alumni Access program which allows you to continue to use your RefWorks account after you leave the University (if you were a student, not faculty and staff).

Another free option: if you use Firefox as your web browser, check out Zotero.
