May 21, 2002--Level A: A crew of demolition workers break up ceramic tile-covered, concrete block, and terra cotta block walls. This crewman holds his hammer in either the right or the left hand to get the most accurate swing.

May 21, 2002--Level A: The demolition of the AV/Reserves area and the bathrooms on Level A clears space for construction of the new Technology Center.

May 21, 2002--Level A: An electrician sets up temporary lighting for what will be the new Technology Center on Level A. Dark vertical stripes on the back wall mark where walls once divided listening booths in the AV/Reserves unit. Demolition of the booths required a lot of energy as the walls were filled with concrete block and sand as well as plasterboard and insulation.

May 21, 2002--Level A: As books are moved off of Level A, construction workers are already moving tools and materials into the open study area.

May 21, 2002--Level B: Meanwhile on Level B, books from Level A are being loaded onto the compact shelving.
