October 23, 2002--Level A: With a large wrench, a sprinkler fitter tightens a connection near the ceiling, while a second sprinkler fitter passes up materials. Because they are working around fixtures that were not moved from Level A, including shelving and lights, squeezing into tight spots is a requirement of the job.

October 23, 2002--Level A: A sprinkler fitter brushes pipe dope on the threaded end of a pipe to make a sealed joint with the connecting pipe.

October 23, 2002--Level A: A sprinkler fitter cuts threads into a pipe with a power machine. The metal bucket on the floor under the cutter is full of metal shavings from cut threads.

October 23, 2002--Level A, Technology Center: One carpenter inserts shims to level the wooden wall grid, while a second attaches the grid to the ceiling and a third carpenter (right) inserts a new section of grid. All wall grids are built onsite from finished millwork and are completed with clear or frosted glass panels.

October 24, 2002--Cybercafe: On a lift, a worker uses a jack hammer to loosen concrete siding and red brick backing. A second worker pushes the loosened stone onto piles two stories below. On the ground, a third member of the demolition team keeps foot traffic away from the dropping debris.
