August 28, 2002--Level A: Carpenters install metal studs to frame in the lobby of Level A and the entrance to the Technology Center.

August 28, 2002--Level A: To bend a large conduit pipe, electricians use a hydraulic powered pipe bender. They assemble the pipe bender, shipped as components, and choose the interchangeable curving plate for 4" pipes. Two men are needed to load and align the heavy plate.

August 28, 2002--Level A: To get enough power to bend a 4" conduit, electricians attach a hydraulic pump to the large piston at the top of the pipe bender.

August 29, 2002--Level A, Technology Center: A raised floor is installed over the yards of wiring conduit which powers the Technology Center. Floor layers first position, then glue pedestals to the floor at even increments. Next each pedestal is leveled and then the floor panels are secured over the pedestals.

August 29, 2002--Level A, Technology Center: A floor layer uses a band saw to cut floor panels to fit around columns and corners. The honey-comb or egg-crate-look panels are filled with concrete and weigh 40 lbs. In addition to cutting the panels for fit, holes are cut for junction boxes and access panels. This style of "access flooring" provides flexibility for future wiring changes.
