August 21, 2002--Level A: In the Technology Center, an electrician (left) secures wiring conduit to the concrete floor to provide electrical and computer network connections and a carpenter (right) measures a sheet of wall board before cutting it for the outer wall.

August 23, 2002--southeast of Olin: To build the glass atrium walls, the stone wall of the current periodical reading room is razed. A demolition team picks out granite blocks and saves them in piles; they will be used in other projects on campus.

August 28, 2002--southeast of Olin: A demolition crew member removed a window of the current periodical reading room and now saws through the metal framing from the window to remove it.

August 28, 2002--west of Olin: After completing the seismic bracing treatment for columns in the southwest stairwell, the outside wall is boarded up and the stairwell re-opened.

August 28, 2002--west of Olin: At the northwest stairwell, a mini-excavator with a jack hammer pounds against the concrete block wall. Steel collars and plates will be installed around two columns in the stairwell as part of the structural engineering plan for seismic bracing.
