In order for Olin Library to stay open throughout its entire renovation and expansion, work proceeded floor by floor, starting with the lowest level (two floors below grade). Materials and staff shifted from one area to another, as work went forward. This phased renovation schedule meant areas reopened in a sequence rather than all at once. See the Timeline for the sequence of construction events.
