The Libraries have implemented a new proxy server which no longer requires you to configure your web browser in order to use it. You may remove the settings in your browser for the old proxy server. Here's how.

- select the radio button in front of Direct connection to the Internet
- delete the http://spokane.wustl.edu:8080/proxy.pac URL from the box beneath Automatic proxy configuration URL
- click on OK
- click on OK to close the Options dialog box

highlighted in the box to the left.

- Under the Firefox menu select Preferences.
- Click on the General tab or button.
- Under Connections click on the Connection Settings... button.
- Select the radio button for Direct connection to the Internet, and delete the http://spokane.wustl.edu:8080/proxy.pac address from below Automatic proxy configuration URL.
- Click OK.
- Quit (close/exit) Firefox.
- Reopen Firefox.

- Open Up Safari. Select Safari -> Preferences...
- Click on the Advanced tab and then on the "Change Settings..." button next to the word "Proxies."
- On the left hand side of the window is a scroll menu. Scroll down to the last option: Automatic Proxy Configuration and UN-check the box next to it.
- In the Proxy Configuration File box on the right, delete the URL: http://spokane.wustl.edu:8080/proxy.pac
- Click the Apply Now button in the lower right corner of the window.

- Open up System Preferences.
- Click on the Network pane.
- If you see four buttons that say Airport - TCP/IP - AppleTalk
- Proxies, skip to step (5)
- At the top of the Network pane are two popup menus: Location
and Show. For Show, select the option that matches your Internet
connection: Modem, Built-in Ethernet (if you're wired for DSL) or
AirPort (if using any kind of wireless connection).
- Click on the Proxies button.
- On the left hand side of the window is a scroll menu. Click on Direct Connection to the Internet rather than Automatic Proxy Configuration.
- In the Proxy Configuration File box on the right, delete the URL:
http://spokane.wustl.edu:8080/proxy.pac
- Click the Apply Now button in the lower right corner of the
window.

- Open System Preferences and then click on Network.
- Select the Proxies tab. UN-check the box for Web Proxy and delete the address, spokane.wustl.eduand the port number, 8080.
- Click the Apply Now button and then close the window.
