Archive Collections

University Archives reference services are located in Special Collections at Olin Library (Level 1) on the Danforth Campus. *Note  that most of our collections are stored off-site.* Please contact us in advance (314) 935-5495 or to ensure items are available for your use.

University Archives  includes more than 400 unique collections, which chronicle the history of Washington University (1853 to today) along with numerous collections related to St. Louis history and architecture.

From records of University departments, to personal papers of noted faculty, and publications by students on campus, the Archive Collections have a wealth of primary sources.  The collections include handwritten manuscripts, photographic prints and negatives, books, film, sound recordings, microfilm, architectural plans, artifacts, and more.
