This is an open space for people interested in education and communication for planning and design in developing countries. Please, send us and exchange your opinions and information on initiatives, researches, projects, etc. related to these issues! Everyone can participate: students, academics, consultants, organization s, universities, research centers, NGOs and whoever is interested in these subjects. The site is in English and in Italian.

The Forum is a permanent debate area where you can discuss "training and communication" concerning planning and architectural design for developing countries. The idea is for the site to be an arena where people can exchange ideas and a showcase open to whoever wants to present his/her activities or research. The Forum is an attempt to make full use of the Internet. It puts together: a) informal dialogue (taking place in discussion lists open to contributions from all members) and b) WWW pages (that summa rise the debates and present new research) where the information is highly structured. We are aware that communication to and from developing countries is sometimes difficult and restricted to a small number of people. Therefore the material produced by the Forum will be also distribut ed through a E-Mail newsletter. Nevertheless we will also experiment with the possibilities offered by the most innovative communication tools available on the internet, such as audio, video, confere nces.

THE PROJECT This is what the Forum offers: WWW pages and discussion list. You can be a passive reader or an active participant.
* DISCUSSION LISTS to discuss the issues with other members of the Forum. The discussion takes place through E-Mail. When you subscribe to a discussion list your mail will be sent to all the members of the Forum and yo u will receive the messages written by the other members.
* ACTIVITIES AND RESEARCHES in these pages the organisers of the Forum will present a selection of news on associations, meetings, publications and projects. You can send us a report about your projects and researches. Have a l ook, for example, at our ipertext on manual design for self-help building in developing countries!
* PERISCOPE links, URLs and suggestion to facilitate access to other related sites and data banks on the Internet.
* SCHOOLS you will find information about programmes, fellowships, theses, stages, etc. and about other initiatives in the field of education and training. This information is collected by the organisers of t he Forum or sent in by the schools themselves.
* GUESTBOOK you can add you name, E-Mail address and other information (i.e., your interests, your activities, etc.), news, appeals in the guestbook. This is done by filling in a form, and the information will b e available on-line to all the visitors straight away.
* your PAGES if the guestbook is not enough or if your information or your activities deserve a larger space feel free to ask us for some more space! We can offer you a free page on the Web: please contact us to have more information.
